Results from this evenings Charlevoix Alano Club Board Meeting:
The trial in-person meetings are now done.
NO IN-PERSON MEETINGS THE REMAINDER OF THIS WEEK.
The board voted to allow five in-person meetings per week at times of the volunteers choosing to begin on July 5th or later that same week based on several stipulations:
At least two volunteers must agree to “Host” the in-person meeting at the club.
All rules must be followed including the wearing of masks, no coffee, drinks or food allowed in the building and the hosts and participants are asked to clean up. If someone refuses to wear a mask or share their name and phone number, they need to find other meeting avenues. These requests are about safety of the group, not about each individual’s preferences.
The board has agreed to have first name and last initial rather than full last name and phone number written on the meeting envelope by the meeting chairperson to avoid sharing an ink pen or passing the envelope. The names are needed for contact tracing should someone find out later they are covid-19 positive. If someone is unwilling to do this, they need to attend a meeting at a different location.
For those interested in hosting a meeting at the Alano Club in Charlevoix, they and their co-host will need to contact Scott Kelly as soon as possible with your day and time that you would like host a meeting. This needs to take place before Sunday, July 5th.
These meetings can be in-person meetings only or in conjunction with an existing zoom meeting (hybrid) – the decision is up to each meeting. Scott will review with the meeting hosts how this can be achieved as the technology is now in place.
Interested hosts can contact Scott by email at scott@charlevoixalano.org or on his cell 231-881-0810 or through his work at BASES 231-547-1144.
The board will review this topic again at their next meeting on Monday, July 27th at 5:15 pm via zoom.
Also, the Monday 9:00 am Zoom Meeting will be dropped from the zoom schedule. All other Zoom Meetings will be continued through the month of July – and beyond depending on the number of volunteers that are willing to keep it going.
Open Air Meetings in Charlevoix:
Tom O and Scott G have established a Wednesday AA meeting at 7:00 pm at the Ferry Beach pavilion #2 (in the center) for the remainder of the summer. This will be an in-person only meeting.
Luther will be reserving the Depot Beach pavilion for the Thursday and Saturday 8:00 am men’s meetings. These will be hybrid (in concert with the Zoom meetings) and work in combination with the current zoom meetings at those times.
Attendees at the pavilion meetings are encouraged to bring their own coffee or soft drinks and lawn chair as it is difficult to social distance on picnic tables. There are restrooms that are open for use at both pavilions.
Additional meetings are encouraged to make use of the open air pavilions that are located at Depot Beach (one pavilion), Ferry Beach (several pavilions), Michigan Beach (one pavilion) and the band shell in downtown. All of these facilities have restrooms nearby, have covered roofs for rain and until Labor Day should be fine with the weather. These can be set up by contacting the City of Charlevoix and are free of charge for non-profit organizations such as ours and other self-help groups.
